📰 Google’s Gemini to get real-time news?
🚨 Our Report — Google has signed a deal with its long-standing ally, the Associated Press (AP)—a renowned, unbiased, news source—to integrate news updates into its AI chatbot, Gemini, creating a “feed of real-time information.”
🔓 Key Points:
Although it’s not known when this feature will arrive or who will have access to it when it does launch, the goal of the integration is to “further enhance the usefulness of results” displayed in Gemini.
Details of the deal haven’t been disclosed, and Google has refused to comment on how it would present the AP news updates, and whether it would attribute the AP, or link back to its original stories.
The partnership with Google is another diversification tactic from AP, which has previously also inked a deal with OpenAI, allowing it to license its library of news stories to train its AI models.
🔐 Relevance — The collaboration comes as AI companies, like Google and OpenAI, are all, desperately seeking high-quality, reputable, and reliable news sources to improve the accuracy and credibility of their ‘prone-to-hallucinations’ AI models, and follows a trend for forming partnerships with news outlets to license their content for training—like OpenAI has done with the AP and news publication, Axios, which they have also, most recently, provided funding for, so they can expand into four new cities.

🧪 Breakthrough lab for AGI?
🚨 Our Report — Former YouTube, Spotify, and Google engineer, who created the widely-used ARC-AGI benchmark, which measures progress towards Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and is one of the “100 Most Influential in AI” (according to the Times), François Chollet, and co-founder of Zapier, Mike Knoop, have co-founded Ndea, a research lab dedicated to building Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), which aims to become a “factory for rapid scientific advancement.”
🔓 Key Points:
To achieve their AGI goal, they will create a process called “guided program synthesis,” which will allow AI systems to adapt and innovate beyond current task-specific applications to cognitive, “economically valuable” tasks.
The duo believes that “the path to AGI is not through incremental improvements to existing methods,” and will combine intuitive pattern recognition—enabled by deep learning—with formal reasoning to achieve this.
While it’s unknown whether Ndea is self-funded or funded by investors, they are looking for a globally distributed team of researchers and engineers to build the most “talent-dense program synthesis team.”
🔐 Relevance — Chollet and Knoop say progress towards AGI is constrained by a reliance on huge datasets, but they believe that their program synthesis method is the key to overcoming these limitations.

🚸 Teens rely on ChatGPT for schoolwork
According to a new survey by the Pew Research Center, on ChatGPT usage among young people, 26% of those surveyed (aged between 13 and 17) have used ChatGPT for schoolwork, which is double what it was last year.
54% believe it’s ok to use ChatGPT for research, 18% feel it’s acceptable to use it for writing essays, and 29% think it’s ok to use it to solve Math problems, which is concerning, as ChatGPT isn’t great at Math.
In fact, another study, looking at whether AI could pass a doctorate-level history test, recently revealed that GPT-4o could only answer questions “slightly more accurately” than a person randomly guessing.

TOGETHER WITH INCOGNI
You’ve likely received a sketchy call, text, or email asking for $$$. It might've been easy to spot, but with deepfakes and AI, scams are getting trickier.
Scammers use your personal data, often bought legally from data brokers who sell your phone number, DOB, SSN, and more. Incogni scrubs your data from the web, taking on 200+ data brokers on your behalf.
Unlike others, Incogni deletes your info from all broker types, including people search sites where anyone can get your details for a few bucks.
