☠️ HP kills Humane AI Pin?

Humane AI Pin dead?

🚨 Our Report — Humane—makers of the wearable AI Pin, which launched in April last year, and was positioned by founders, Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, as a replacement for smartphones, but received scathing reviews from critics (eg. “the worst product I’ve ever reviewed”) for giving wrong answers, taking ages to respond, and overheating—is being bought by global IT giant, HP, for $116M.

🔓 Key Points:

  • Humane has been forced to stop selling its AI Pin and has told existing customers that their devices will stop working on 28th Feb, encouraging them to download any stored pictures, videos, and notes asap.

  • It’s also announced that anyone who bought a pin within the last 3 months will be eligible for reimbursement, but it “must be submitted by February 27th, 2025,” and those who bought one before then, will not.

  • HP is bringing some Humane employees over to form an AI innovation Lab and use Humanes “AI capabilities” to integrate AI into its hardware/software to become a more “experience-led company.”

🔐 Relevance — Rumors last year revealed that Humane was looking for a buyer, shortly after the disastrous launch of the AI Pin in April, but was asking for $1B, as opposed to $116M, with poor sales (they expected to sell 100,000 devices in the first year but sold just 10,000, and returns outpaced sales) possibly contributing to the major price drop.

TOGETHER WITH MODE MOBILE

Mode Mobile

Palantir's stock just surged over 300% YOY as big data turned the company into a $250B tech giant.

The big data goldrush is here, but the company that stands to profit the most may not be Palantir…

A new disruption to smartphones gives users a share in the data earnings, already facilitating +$325M in earnings and generating +$60M in revenue.

With 32,481% revenue growth, this company is gearing up for a possible Nasdaq listing (stock ticker: $MODE), and pre-IPO shares are available at only $0.26/share.

Their disruptive EarnPhone is now being distributed by Walmart and BestBuy, and it’s only a matter of time before people start catching on.

Space in Mode's pre-IPO offering is restricted, and they are 90% towards their $20M milestone.

🤐 Mira Murati startup out of stealth

Mira Murati startup

🚨 Our Report — After her shock departure from OpenAI last October, ex-CTO Mira Murati has been secretly working on an AI start-up, which has just come out of stealth, and she’s finally revealed some details.

🔓 Key Points:

  • Murati confirmed that her new startup is “Thinking Machines Lab” and although details about exactly what it will do are still unknown, its goal is “to make AI systems more widely understood, customizable and capable.”

  • Unlike many in the industry, its aim isn’t to build fully autonomous systems, but to build products that give everyone “access to the knowledge and tools to make AI work for their unique needs and goals.”

  • To achieve this, it plans to “work with people collaboratively,” so it can understand how its systems can “create genuine value in the real world” and “adapt to the full spectrum of human expertise.”

🔐 Relevance — Murati quit OpenAI last October after 6 years—during which she led the research and development on ChatGPT and DALL-E, and became CEO (temporarily, after current CEO, Sam Altman, was briefly fired)—to “do her own exploration,” and has since been working hard on her new start-up, hiring 29 high-profile employees from top tech firms, including OpenAI, Character AI, and Google, to support her new venture.

🦙 Meta’s first dev conference

  • Meta has announced it's holding its first-ever dev-focused conference—called LlamaCon (after its open-source, AI model, Llama) where it will share updates on “open source AI developments” to help developers.

  • It will take place on April 29th (location unknown), and will feature the “latest and greatest in Meta Horizon updates” and “peel back the curtain on tomorrow’s tech,” to “help developers build apps and products.”

  • This comes as Meta recently revealed plans to spend $80B on AI this year as it battles to keep up with DeepSeek (it expects DeepSeek's new model will outperform the new Llama, which is set to be released in a few weeks).
