Musk bringing AI into Enterprises?

🚨 Our Report

Elon Musk’s AI start-up, xAI, has partnered with data analytics firm Palantir and global asset company TWG to “redefine how banking institutions and service providers can successfully adopt AI across the entire enterprise” to “drive long-term competitiveness and unlock value.” This new collaboration follows a joint venture between Palantir and TWG—which they announced in March—which was aimed at integrating AI into banking.

🔓 Key Points

  • TWG will work with Enterprise CEOs to design and implement custom, AI-powered solutions, which will be powered by Palantir’s data models and xAI’s AI models, which include its Grok series and Colossus supercomputer.

  • The aim of the collaboration is to redefine how businesses operate, bridging the gap between company objectives and integrating AI into operational workflows, “providing intelligence that drives measurable impact.”

  • Combining TWG’s operational expertise with Palantir and xAI’s “world-class” platforms and reasoning intelligence will make transformative AI accessible to every organization through scalable, easy-to-deploy solutions.

🔐 Relevance

CEOs across all industries seem to recognize that implementing an AI-first strategy is key to success, but 74% don’t know how to integrate AI solutions in a way that gets them measurable results and returns. They, therefore, remain unable to move out of the ‘proof-of-concept’ phase. This collaboration aims to change this, and transform the way AI is brought into Enterprises: “It needs to be managed by the very highest levels of the C-suite rather than siloed in a business’s technology group, where it has traditionally resided.”

P.S. Not an ad, but this is something The AI Report and Upscaile—our Partner company—are also aiming to do: Help Enterprises, not just learn about AI, but actually help them to integrate practical, useful AI solutions into their business operations, to make processes more lean, efficient, and profitable.

🚨 Our Report

In a bid to bring more AI features to more customers (in particular students or young professionals at the start of their careers), Microsoft has announced it’s launching a next-generation Copilot+ laptop and tablet that will run on AI chips, meaning both devices will be able to run AI models without the internet.

🔓 Key Points

  • The devices will officially launch on May 20th, but will cost less than their predecessors because they’re for “a set of customers for whom affordability is going to be important.”

  • They’ll both have smaller screen sizes, but Microsoft believes that both will run for longer, on less battery—the laptop, for example, will run for 18 hours compared to the earlier version, which could accommodate just 13.

  • Microsoft also established that the laptop outperforms Apple’s 2024 MacBook Air, which contains AI chips manufactured by Arm, although they did announce, in March, that they’d upgraded the device with a faster chip.

🔐 Relevance

These new AI-focused devices bring features that will allow users to do things like ask the device to change settings using natural language queries—as opposed to sifting through the system settings menus manually. They’ll be able to ask it to generate AI draft documents and emails and try the controversial Recall feature, which ‘remembers’ (and stores) where a user has previously been and what was on their screen. They’ll also be able to try an AI agent, which will perform certain tasks autonomously.

  • Yesterday, OpenAI made a shock u-turn in its restructuring plans, choosing to keep its non-profit arm in control of its commercial division—which will now become a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC).

  • This came as a surprise to many, as previously (in December), OpenAI outlined its plans to become a for-profit entity to alleviate investor pressure and perhaps raise additional capital by going public via an IPO.

  • Now, experts feel that this is now unlikely to happen (even though PBCs can go public), although OpenAI has confirmed that an IPO would be “theoretically” possible under the proposed structure.
