🤫 OpenAI’s secret robot plans revealed
🚨 Our Report — After closing down its robotics division in 2020—to focus on achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)—OpenAI has re-opened it and has, through a series of job listings, revealed details on how it plans to develop its own robots, which will be equipped with custom sensors.
🔓 Key Points:
According to the job posts, the robotics team will focus on developing "general-purpose," "adaptive," and "multifunctional" robots that can operate in real-world environments with human-like intelligence.
OpenAI needs an Electronic Perception Engineer, who will design/develop sensors; a Design Engineer, who will design the robot's mechanical systems, and a Project Manager, who will oversee the process.
There are reportedly plans for high-volume production (potentially more than 1M) and there’s speculation that they could be building humanoid robots, which have limbs and can mimic human behavior.
🔐 Relevance — Venture Capitalists invested over $4.6B in the robotics sector last year, with humanoid robots attracting the most interest, and start-ups such as X1 and Figure (both backed financially, by OpenAI) making the most progress, so it will be interesting to see how OpenAI will progress with this project, which sits alongside the upcoming hardware device, ex-Apple designer Jonny Ives announced last year, and the custom AI chip that is rumored to be in design.

🥷 Microsoft battles dangerous AI hackers
🚨 Our Report — Microsoft’s Digital Crime Unit (DCU) has launched a lawsuit against a foreign-based group of hackers, accusing them of intentionally developing tools to bypass security guardrails and access Microsoft’s Azure software and servers, to “create offensive, harmful, and illicit content,” monetize access, and distribute tools to other cybercriminals.
🔓 Key Points:
The group of 10 defendants—all named under the legal pseudonym of ‘John Does’—allegedly used stolen Microsoft customer credentials to break into the Azure OpenAI Service, powered by OpenAI.
Microsoft's DCU discovered the activity in July, last year, and has since revoked the group’s access, strengthened its security measures, and secured the court’s permission to shut down the website.
The lawsuit suggests that the hackers targeted several other US companies and were planning to run a similar operation against OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, and Google Cloud Vertex AI.
🔐 Relevance — This is yet another incident in a rapidly growing number of cases where bad actors and malicious cybercriminals have successfully hacked into AI systems and services, bypassing robust security systems, and exploiting them for profit, highlighting that, as AI systems grow more and more sophisticated, so do hackers.

💥 OpenAI bots crash website
Triplegargs’ website—which sells body and face 3D scans—was taken down by an OpenAI crawler bot, which was scraping the site for data (for context, Triplegargs has data for over 1,500 people in the 'face' category alone).
Although Tripplegargs states that “'you may not collect data through indexing, scraping, data mining, using bots, without our consent,” their robots.txt file didn’t specifically block OpenAI bots.
Since the attack, Tripplegargs re-configured its robots.txt file to block OpenAI’s GPTBot and others, which didn’t stop the bots from returning, but did stop them from scraping the site and taking it down.
