🤚 Trump stops Biden's AI order

Trump revokes Biden's AI order

🚨 Our Report — As one of the many “day one” efforts made to honor plans he outlined before he was re-elected, President Donald Trump revoked Biden’s 2023 AI Executive Order (EO), which was designed to reduce the risks associated with AI.

🔓 Key Points:

  • Biden’s AI EO mandated companies developing high-risk AI systems to share safety test results and other critical information before public release to minimize the threat to national security, the economy, and public safety.

  • During his campaign, Trump criticized the EO for “hindering innovation,” and this revocation instantly halts the implementation of AI safety governance, as he “supports AI development rooted in freedom of speech."

  • Trump didn’t say what will replace the EO, but the appointment of VC David Sacks—a longtime critic of tech regulation—as his crypto-AI czar suggests the administration will likely take a hands-off approach.

🔐 Relevance — Although Trump has rescinded Biden’s 2023 AI safety EO (while other countries are scrambling to put more safety legislation in place), he has kept Biden’s latest EO, which he issued just last week—which supports the production of energy to meet increasing demand from domestic AI data centers—which perhaps gives us an insight into where his priorities lie: In innovation and competition, as opposed to safety regulation and governance.

Is Trumps revocation of Bidens AI EO a good or bad decision?

🕵️ OpenAI’s agent ‘Operator’ leaked!

OpenAI’s agent ‘Operator’ leaked!

🚨 Our Report — After months of speculation, software engineer—Tibor Blaho—has uncovered real evidence that OpenAI is about to release its AI agent, ‘Operator,’ which will autonomously complete compter-based tasks (like coding and booking travel, and navigating the web), on behalf of users.

🔓 Key Points:

  • Blaho—who is notorious for (accurately) discovering and leaking AI products before release—discovered within ChatGPT code that ‘Operator’ could be released as a research preview (for developers) as early as this month.

  • According to benchmarks measuring web navigation capabilities, ‘Operator’ scored 38.1%—higher than rival Anthropic’s agent (although less than the human score: 72.4%)—and has Ph.D.-level intelligence.

  • But tests have also shown it still struggles with complex operations, achieving just a 10% success rate on tasks like creating Bitcoin wallets, and 60% on signing up with a cloud provider and launching a virtual machine.

🔐 Relevance — While Anthropic has already released an AI agent and Google is reportedly working on one (which was expected to arrive in December, last year), OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, heavily hinted that “the next giant breakthrough will be agents,” compounded by analysts who believe that the AI agent market will be worth $47.1B, in just six years.

📿 AI Friend necklace delayed!

  • Friend—creators of the AI companion necklace—was due to start shipping its first batch of pendants (to pre-order customers) during Q1, but has announced that it’s been forced to push this back to Q3.

  • The delay is down to significant hardware design refinements and according to Friend CEO, Avi Schiffman, you can’t start “manufacturing electronics when you’re 95% done with your design.”

  • Schuffman—who raised eyebrows last year for paying $1.8M for the domain name Friend.com—has estimated that the prototype will be finished by the end of Feb, so they can start manufacturing in March.
